How do I delete my account?
  1. Open iTafakkur on your device.
  2. Go to the Profile tab.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.
  4. Confirm. All your data — chats, journal entries, habits, bookmarks, settings — is permanently removed within 30 days. We cannot recover deleted accounts.
Why aren't my prayer notifications firing?

Three things to check:

  1. Notifications enabled in iTafakkur: Guidance → Azaan → toggle Enable Notifications on. You should see "X reminders scheduled" below the toggle.
  2. OS-level permission: iOS Settings → Notifications → iTafakkur → Allow Notifications. Android Settings → Apps → iTafakkur → Notifications.
  3. Location permission: Prayer times depend on your location. Settings → iTafakkur → Location → While Using App.

If all three are correct and notifications still don't fire, email us with your device model and OS version.

How do I change the language?

Profile → tap the language dropdown → pick your language. The whole app translates instantly. Right-to-left languages (Arabic, Urdu, Persian) require an app restart to flip the layout direction — this is an iOS/Android limitation.

The verse / hadith / dua translations look off in my language

Quranic verse translations come from Quran.com using scholar-vetted sources (Sahih International for English, Hamidullah for French, Diyanet for Turkish, Junagarhi for Urdu, etc.). Hadith and dua translations are machine-generated for v1 and may have minor wording differences from your preferred translation. We are upgrading these to scholar-vetted sources in v1.1. If you spot a serious error, please email us with the specific text — we appreciate the help.

My Qibla direction looks wrong
  1. Move your phone in a figure-8 pattern for 5 seconds to calibrate the compass.
  2. Step away from large metal objects (cars, refrigerators, laptops).
  3. Make sure location permission is granted.
  4. Turn on True North in iOS Settings → Compass (off uses magnetic north which can be off by several degrees in some regions).
I'm getting "session expired" errors

Tap the banner to sign in again. If it keeps repeating, sign out manually (Profile → Sign Out) and sign back in. Authentication tokens refresh automatically but very long offline periods can require re-authentication.

How is my chat data used?

Your messages to the AI assistant are sent to OpenAI for response generation under their enterprise terms — they are not used to train OpenAI's models. Your chat history is stored in your account so you can return to past conversations. You can delete individual chats from the Chat tab. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Can I use iTafakkur offline?

Limited offline support: prayer times for the next 7 days are cached on first load, and scheduled prayer notifications fire offline. Chat, daily verse / hadith / dua, and study lessons require an internet connection.

How do I report a bug?

Inside the app: Profile → Report an Issue. Please include what you were doing when the bug happened, what you expected, and what actually happened. Screenshots help a lot.
